Joyeux Noël

So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young

A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Christmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
And what have we done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
War is over over
If you want it
War is over
Now...

riiiiiight
Spain is the main landing point in Europe for cocaine smuggled from Latin America

My travel plans have changed once again; i have to be home two days early from nashville.
Roy has a fancy new job, so we will most likely go to Europe this summer, and I think in 2008 there will be only ONE place to go and that is the olympics in Beijing.

Thank god

I saw this on the West Mall yesterday:
I'm not sure what they are trying to say, or what the connection is between communism and Christmas. I guess they're making fun of what the ACLU has done to Christmas or something, I dunno. The thing that Mr. Marx is holding on the right says 'child porn' on it.

Lifes the same Im moving in stereo
Lifes the same except for my shoes
Lifes the same youre shakin like tremolo
Lifes the same its all inside you

Its so easy to blow up your problems
Its so easy to play up your breakdown
Its so easy to fly through a window
Its so easy to fool with the sound

Its so tough to get up
Its so tough
Its so tough to live up
Its so tough on you

Lifes the same Im moving in stereo
Lifes the same except for my shoes
Lifes the same youre shakin like tremolo
Lifes the same its all inside you

Lifes the same Im moving in stereo
Lifes the same except for my shoes
Lifes the same youre shakin like tremolo
Lifes the same its all inside you

I saw this online yesterday, a sweet building in Tokyo:

grr

Well I've modified my christmas travel plans a bit.
I was going to fly from houston to toronto on dec. 27th, then return on jan 3rd. On jan 5th, i was going to fly from houston to nashville to visit my sister, but my dad decided to stay in toronto until the 5th for business, so now I will fly from toronto to nashville (via cleveland) on the 5th.
I was really excited this morning because it looked like i would be able to connect in New york instead of cleveland, and have an 8 hour layover, allowing me to spend a little bit of time in manhattan.
BUT, the bastard airline will not let me have the evening flight from NY-nashville w/ out paying a bunch of money or a lot of miles I don't have.
So its YYZ-CLE-BNA.
Oh well. I will at least get a couple more days in Toronto.

Yeah, I tried to change the language of the date to Norwegian, but in the end I decided that there is simply no match for Catalan.
It got down to the thirties today, and will be similarly cold tomorrow, but sunny, so it will get up to the sixties during the day. So I guess it won't be similarly cold; fuck you.
My design professor will not be in studio tommorrow as he is in London accepting an award [for his firm] from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). However, I cannot find anything about him or his firm on the RIBA website or his firm's, so maybe he lied. Maybe he'll be at home freebasing heroin. Nah, he'd probably go somewhere else to do that.
I went up to the arboretum today to get some christmas gift ideas. I came up w/ some, and I saw this in Barnes & Noble and thought it was hilarious:
I'm glad I have an ultra sleek camera that fits in my pocket.
I also visited the new Ikea in Round Rock a couple of weeks ago. That was pretty much a total waste of time; it's not as big or cool as the one in Houston. But I did get to ride on some of the new tollways, which was kind of cool. Now I can avoid I35 when going to Round Rock, which isn't that often because the suburbs make me want to shoot someone.

Dubai:

This is supposed to be in NYC somewhere:

Well she's fashionably lean, and she's fashionably late
She'll never wreck a scene, she'll never break a date
But she's no drag, just watch the way she walks
She's a twentieth century fox, she's a twentieth century fox
No tears, no fears, no ruined years, no clocks
She's a twentieth century fox, oh yeah
She's the queen of cool, and she's the lady who waits
Sent to manless school, it never hesitates
She wont waste time on elementary talk
'cause she's a twentieth century fox, she's a twentieth century fox
Got the world locked up, inside a plastic box
She's a twentieth century fox, oh yeah
Twentieth century fox, oh yeah
Twentieth century fox
She's a twentieth century fox

hehe
oh NO
this is cool

Week before last I saw an advanced screening of Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain. It was visually stunning and quite entertaining, but it left me wanting more.
I couldn't sleep last night, so at 4:30 this morning I got out of bed and watched part of Empire of the Sun, which stars a 13 y/o Christian Bale.
The final review for our design project is next wednesday, and only today I figured out where the bathrooms will go. There's still a lot to be worked out, and I'm a little scared.
My dad and stepmom bought a miniature schnauzer yesterday. Her name is Bella.
Christmas is just around the corner; I already have a good idea of what I'm getting, however very little about what I will be giving.

a pic I took the day after Thanksgiving. I had to park on the roof when I went to the galleria, which, as you can see, has it's advantages.

gobble gobble

Last night I went to yet another inspirational lecture at the SoA, this time given by Francisco Mangado of Pamplona, Spain. His work is, in a word, stunning.
He also told us a funny anecdote about how his six yo son will tell him that his buildings "are shit" whenever he does something against his son's will in designing a building. It must be nice to have offspring so interested in what you do at that early age.
I'm leaving in an hour or so for Houston. I'm really excited about this break for some reason. Tonight I will have dinner w/ my father and that half, my brother's after, and tommorrow for the actual feast I will be at my mom's. Hopefully I will remember some of it. There were only five other people in studio this morning so I left after an hour without talking to Juan about my project. But I actually showed up, so all is well.
Whole Foods will be the financial death of me. Damn that flagship store!

OK? (yes sir)
Look at me,
Who am I supposed to be?
Who am I supposed to be?
Look at me,
What am I supposed to be?
What am I supposed to be?
Look at me,
Oh my love, oh my love.
Here I am,
What am I supposed to do?
What am I supposed to do?
Here I am,
What can I do for you?
What can I do for you?
Here I am,
Oh my love, oh my love.
Look at me, oh please look at me, my love,
Here I am - Oh my love.
Who am I?
Nobody knows but me,
Nobody knows but me,
Who am I?
Nobody else can see,
Just you and me,
Who are we?
Oh my love, oh my love.
Oh my love...

Please allow me to introduce myself
Im a man of wealth and taste
Ive been around for a long, long year
Stole many a mans soul and faith
And I was round when jesus christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around st. petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a generals rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
I shouted out,
Who killed the kennedys?
When after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
Im a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But whats confusing you
Is just the nature of my game
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me lucifer
cause Im in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or Ill lay your soul to waste, um yeah
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, um yeah
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, um mean it, get down
Woo, who
Oh yeah, get on down
Oh yeah
Oh yeah!
Tell me baby, whats my name
Tell me honey, can ya guess my name
Tell me baby, whats my name
I tell you one time, youre to blame
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Oh, yeah
Whats me name
Tell me, baby, whats my name
Tell me, sweetie, whats my name
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Oh, yeah

I attended a lecture at the SoA tonight given by Dietmar Eberle (of the firm Baumschlager & Eberle), an Austrian architect of some renown. That was really great. My favorite parts were seeing the dean of the school gnawing on a pen in the front of the room before the lecture and Dietmar's explanation of how he rarely if ever considers program when designing a building, because, after all, many buildings designed to last will be used in different ways throughout their lifetime, so what's the point? Also, his design for the Vienna Airport expansion was interesting as were just about all the other buildings he showed us.
I just watched Contempt, a film by Jean-Luc Godard. Jack Palance was in it, and he died over the weekend, so I thought it would be appropriate. It was good, and now i really want to buy a villa in Capri.

This is crazy

I went up to Dallas this weekend to see some of my mom's family. The highlight was The Nasher earlier today:

I went for a short walk down the street afterward

Can I have your autograph
He said to the fat blonde actress
You know I've seen every movie you've been in
From Paths of Pain to Jewels of Glory
And when you kissed Robert Mitchum
Gee but I thought you'd never catch him

Over the hill right now
And you're looking for love
You're over the hill right now
And you're looking for love
I'll come running to you honey when you want me
I'll come running to yoy honey when you want me

Can I have your autograph
He said to the fat blonde actress
You know I know everything you've done
Anyway I hate divorces
To the left is a marble shower
It was fun even for an hour

Your're over the hill right now
And you're looking for love
You're over the hill right now
And you're looking for love
I'll come running to you honey when you want me
I'll come running to you honey when you want me

Something's got a hold on me
And I don't know what

Something's got a hold on me
And I don't know what

It's the beginning of a new age
It's the beginning of a new age

It's a new age

Do not cultivate too much attachment to things of the world, which appeal to carnal desires and sensual thirsts. A moment comes when you have to depart empty-handed, leaving all that you have laboriously collected and proudly called your own.

yippee?

Nancy Pelosi scares me. I've seen her on C-Span, and she is a firecracker.
Overall, I am satisfied with the way things turned out yesterday. A democratic house will mean a check on George's power, so I'm happy. We still have a neocon douchebag as governor of TX, though. That sucks, but i guess it really won't amount to any big differences for me personally. Though we will definitely be seeing the construction of a whole new array of old-coal-tech power plants (that the gov. fast-tracked) in a state already overburdened by industrial pollution.
Luckily we don't have any mountains to speak of, so the wind off the gulf of mexico just blows it all over america.

What George W. Bush did upon hearing that the dems had taken the house.
Praise Jesus

My mom bought me these t-shirts:

I'm scared to wear the first one in public.
