I had another dream this morning that I lost a tooth. This one went further, though, because I woke up (in the dream) and all my teeth had come loose and were further out of the gum than they are normally. I had to push them back up in there, and then one of my top incisors came out, but it had been broken, it didn't just fall out. Anyway, when I really did wake up, I felt all of my teeth just to make sure everything was still in order. I don't like these kinds of dreams.
Amy and I had dinner at the King Biscuit Patio Cafe in the Heights the other day, and it was good. I had these great shrimp and poblano quesadillas. The restaurant is sort of a funky greasy spoon hole in the wall kind of place, and it is right next to White Oak Park in the southeastern nether regions of the Heights. The Houston Press blurb i read about it said that the cafe "overlooked" white oak park which it could only do if it were somehow higher, and the full summer foliage also completely blocked the view of DT, but still a very nice and quiet little spot. The only really bad thing was the dozen or so flies that came out as soon as our food arrived, but my vigilance paid off and i think that only one fly landed on my food.

I don't know why the blog now looks so weird in firefox. It looks fine in IE, I should go to an apple store and see it in safari. I bought a map that is 8' x 13' and it will cover one of my walls.
Today I bought a new chair for my room (at Ikea) so I can sit and read or whatever.
I also ate at Beck's Prime, which, though I heard about it long ago, I've tried only recently. The cheeseburgers there, especially Bill's Burger, are fantastic. So if you like burgers, and ever find yourself in the Houston area, try BP. You will not be disappointed, and yes, they are worth the $7+ price tag. BP also has lots of other stuff.

Dallas' ways free and high are red and orange respectively, Houston's are white and yellow. Background is Houston if you're totally lost.

I made this today when I was bored. I love photoshop.

I've been waiting for a guide to come and take me by the hand,
Could these sensations make me feel the pleasures of a normal man?
These sensations barely interest me for another day,
I've got the spirit, lose the feeling, take the shock away.

It's getting faster, moving faster now, it's getting out of hand,
On the tenth floor, down the back stairs, it's a no man's land,
Lights are flashing, cars are crashing, getting frequent now,
I've got the spirit, lose the feeling, let it out somehow.

What means to you, what means to me, and we will meet again,
I'm watching you, I'm watching her, I'll take no pity from your friends,
Who is right, who can tell, and who gives a damn right now,
Until the spirit new sensation takes hold, then you know,
Until the spirit new sensation takes hold, then you know,
Until the spirit new sensation takes hold, then you know,
I've got the spirit, but lose the feeling,
I've got the spirit, but lose the feeling.
Feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling.

Dallas was fun, there are way too many freeways there. Houston really needs to get crackin' on the Grand Parkway.

pic I took in DT Dallas inside the Chapel of Thanksgiving, which is in Thanks-Giving Square.

"a woman in trouble"

I got Inland Empire on DVD today. I haven't seen it, such is my faith in David Lynch.
I also went to the lovely Stonebriar Centre (Dallas' answer to The Woodlands Mall) where my mom was kind enough to buy me some clothes that I sort of need. I also bought [the novel] All The Pretty Horses. I'm definitely a Cormac McCarthy fan now.
Jesus God

I went into a private art gallery (in Sak's) in the Dallas Galleria (Houston's is better) yesterday and they had several original Warhols, a couple Picassos (only etchings of some kind) and several beautiful Salvador Dalí watercolors, including a series of I think 8 that illustrated The Divine Comedy. I told them I would take them all, and to have them DHLed to my house. I also had lunch at Eatzi's, which was good.
