I'm so bored, so i thought i would do this again.
I saw Syriana w/ my dad yesterday; it is a great movie, and of course my dad chimed in afterward w/ the typical liberal anti-america conspiracy bullshit, but whatever. good torture scene, too. just kidding, why are people crazy about on screen gore nowadays? i will not be seeing hostel.
Party tonight at my brother's i think; i will most likely kill a few [million] brain cells and light some fireworks.
I'm planning on driving up to sherman to see my sister and brother-in-law next week, which should be nice. Might stop off in Dallas and do a bit of exploring, but the plan hasn't been laid out yet.
I went by the new house today; it's coming along nicely, the roof is done and they will start with the brick/stone facing soon. the lake is brackish and nasty, and my room has a 'partial' view of it. yay. i really don't like the house. at all. but of course from now on, i won't really be "living" there, except during summers and other holidays, and i do always have my brother's house or my mom's so i have options here.

The past 2 weeks have been like a slow trek through fog, sweet, sweet fog.

is that it?

And another christmas has passed
this one was good, def. one of the better ones
i goooooooot
some books, don delillo, tom wolfe, william carlos williams, etc
DVDs (yes!)
blah blah blah
I had a [now] typical split-family double christmas and i guess that's sort of cool, i dunno
I feel like i've been detached from reality; leaving my digital alarm clock in austin is partly to blame. Half the time, i have no idea what time it is or where i am
I got my brother and his fiancé a bunch of stuff at ikea, after which i stuffed my face at a nearby chinese buffet. it was good, i rejoiced.
I think i might get another subscription to the new yorker; they're desperate and have invited me to a cheeeeeeeap renewal
ATHF4 is scrumtrilescent
i need more dvds
i have a box of triscuit in my room.
on my desk

Tommy boy

My last post got me excited again about Tom Friedman's work, so i decided to give y'all a taste of it. U might have guessed from the photo that i didn't mean the NY Times columnist.
from a hole-puncher
several boxes combined
dunno. i saw this at the Dallas Museum of art

self portrait in an aspirin
stretched self portrait

an actual desk, with many holes drilled into it
all construction paper
all these were stolen by the artist

sugar cubes
artist's hair in a bar of soap
blue foam

uuuuuuh, yeah

Although this sort of thing is rather trite and has been over done in the past, i decided to make a list of people, living or dead, that i would like to do lunch with.
A word about the list before: the order in which they are presented is not meant to denote the person's importance; they are presented in the order that they came out of my head. Say what you will about the role the subconscious plays in such things. Also, there are many more people (women, for example) that could go on a list like this, but for brevity's sake i limited the list to 12. ok, here goes:
Tom Friedman

William Mcdonough

Stanley Kubrick

Jim Morrison

Thom Yorke

Hunter S. Thompson

Renzo Piano

Andy Warhol

Bret Easton Ellis

Aldous Huxley

Gene Wilder

Bill Murray

My review was okay. Mr. British douche bag was confused about my blown-up model and i got nervous and blah blah blah. Anyway, design is over until 2006, so now all i have to do is scan/take pics of all my work and clean all my shit out of the studio. I hope my studio next year is one of the cooler ones in Goldsmith. The attic is not a nice place to be. I'm reminded of Hanniibal Lecter telling Clarice how he wanted a room w/ a view of some trees or maybe water. mmmmm, chianti....
Lessee, next thursday i will be on an ERJ-145 flying north really fast. Have i already mentioned that I'm excited? Continental Express is not my favorite, but whatever gets me to Canada in one piece is good enough.
Chuck Palahniuk's books never fail to amaze, i highly recommend them.
I only bought christmas presents for 3 of my friends. I suppose i could've gotten more, but that would interfere w/ my buying shit for myself. I still have to buy presents for the family, etc.
I bought a great wool sweater the other day.
I must get an apartment next year. I honestly don't think I can handle another year in a dorm. I'm amazed at how quickly i can fly off the handle into a blind rage that keeps me from going to sleep; it usually happens when i am awakened by my roommate coming in after a long night in the studio, turning the light on, brushing his teeth, washing his face, taking his sweet time. I'm not a jerk; i don't say anything. After all, he's only doing what most people would do, but still, i don't think it's good for my nerves to have this happen all the time. Oh well, his review is tommorrow, so tonight should be the last night this happens. This semester.
Roy told me a story about how a maid found a brick of cocaine while cleaing. She took possession of it, and hired two hitmen to knock off the owners of the house; w/ the coke proceeds, she planned to pay the hitmen, and pay her modelling school tuition. BUT, she forgot to try it first; turns out, the two hitmen were cops, and the brick was cheese. hahahahaha.
My dad had a landscaper pull out the two gorgeous spiraea bushes in our side yard and replace them with a sago palm. A SAGO PALM! as if we don't already have 3 of them. i was slightly disappointed, but i suppose it doesn't matter. He decided not to trim the crepe myrtles, which I decided long ago to let grow tall to shade the side of the house from the morning sun. And of course, my lovely japanese magnolia is still there.
Holy shit, i am a dork. and i LOVE it.

I am just a poor boy and my story’s seldom told
I’ve squandered my resistance for a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises
All lies and jest, still the man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest, hmmmm

When I left my home and my family, I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station, runnin’ scared
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters, where the ragged people go
Looking for the places only they would know

Li la li...

Asking only workman’s wages, I come lookin’ for a job, but I get no offers
Just a comeon from the whores on 7th avenue
I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there

Now the years are rolling by me, they are rockin’ even me
I am older than I once was, and younger than I’ll be, that’s not unusual
No it isn’t strange, after changes upon changes, we are more or less the same
After changes we are more or less the same

Li la li...

And I’m laying out my winter clothes, wishing I was gone, goin’ home
Where the new york city winters aren’t bleedin’ me, leadin’ me to go home

In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him
’til he cried out in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains
Yes he still remains

Li la li...

absoultely brilliant

soooo tired

I never thought i would get satisfaction from working 7-10 hours straight. Now that i can rest for a bit (i have to be back in the studio in 9.5 hrs.), i feel relieved and happy with my work thus far. My final kicks ass. I've always liked simplicity in most things, but i never guessed that i would see this manifested so strongly and obviously in my work. I didn't know i was really a dyed-in-the-wool minimalist. But i am, so there. It's almost like watching a ouija board; i am drawn to to this overt simplicity intuitively and unconsciously.
My new Altec Lansing speakers work very well, and they have a pretty blue LED to let me know that they're on. I used them tonight in the studio w/ my ipod until it's battery got dangerously low.
I only have to take 2 finals. Sweeeeeeet.
Last night i was bored and decided to put markers on some of the world's major airports on google earth (does that make sense syntactically? is that a word?)and when i finished 3 hours or so later, i had marked just about every major airport on earth. I don't know how many i marked, but there are a lot. i think over 40 in the USA alone. Yeah, i know. I'm a nerd at heart. a bored nerd obsessed w/ air travel. I love google earth. Sergey Brin and Larry Page recently acquired a second hand 767 for their own personal use. I wish I was a nouveau riche billionaire.
Roy had a dream that aliens landed while he was here in Austin trying to procure some contraband with some sketchy south of the border types. I laughed.
I had a dream my mom threw up on me.
thats it. I could put pictures and lyrics up, but i've been drawing/gluing/cutting/building for hours.

fuck it, ese, fuck it!
